grand opening spring 2026 〰️
The kind of place that stays with you.
The Stranger is designed as a gentle interruption to the way we usually travel. A historic motel, modern ideas, shaped into a place that values ease, beauty, and thoughtfulness in equal measure. The experience is calm without being quiet, refined without feeling precious. Thoughtful touches are everywhere, from the softest mattresses and deeply cozy rooms to shared spaces that invite you to linger without expectation. This is a lodge where details are subtle, comfort is taken seriously, and the pace is intentionally unhurried.
The vision is rooted in sincere hospitality and a deep love for Central Oregon. Built in collaboration with local makers, builders, and designers, The Stranger reflects the creativity and care of the place it calls home. From your first interaction to the feelings that linger years later, every part of the experience is created with intention, care, and heart. Western in spirit, contemporary in execution, The Stranger balances solitude and connection in a way that feels natural, restorative, and quietly memorable.
why The stranger?
We chose the name The Stranger because it reflects who this place has always been for. New faces in town. New ideas. Different perspectives. People who do not need to be explained in order to belong. We identify with the curious, the independent, the slightly off beat. Those passing through. Those just arriving. Those who stay and shape something new.

We are aiming for spring, likely around March, but renovating historic properties comes with surprises. Think squirrel nests + rotten beams (but no actual skeletons, we promise). The best way to stay in the loop is to join our email list. We plan to open bookings about a month before opening. If you have a specific date in mind, email us and we will add you to a first come, first served waitlist and connect with you once our books open.

Yes! Full property buyouts will be available for retreats, gatherings, and group stays. Reach out to us directly for availability and details.

We loved it too. This change is about safety upgrades, new ownership with a long term vision, and honoring Sisters in a more intentional way. Nothing is changing for the sake of change. Everything is being done with care, purpose, and a deep respect for what came before.
-
Absolutely! We love our furry friends.

Expect comfort that feels considered, not overdone. Sink into luxury bedding, start your mornings with locally roasted coffee, and unwind in thoughtfully curated common spaces designed for lingering. There’s a hot tub for post adventure soaks, a sauna arriving this fall, and a fenced dog run alongside pet friendly rooms for four legged travelers. Some rooms feature fireplaces, ski/bike storage, sofa beds, and full sized kitchens. Every room includes a fridge, microwave, streaming TV, and high speed WiFi for an easy, comfortable stay.
-
Yes. With comfortable rooms, strong WiFi, and shared spaces designed for lingering, it is well suited for extended stays, creative retreats, and working remotely.

Curious travelers, couples, solo wanderers, creatives, and anyone who values comfort, character, and places that feel intentional rather than generic.
